Green camp for top scorers

Reward in store: Quiz organising chairman Koay Teng Hai (left) and Phee explaining the result of the Green School online quiz.

TWENTY-three secondary school students and 180 primary school pupils obtained full marks in an online quiz held in conjunction with the Penang Government’s ‘Green School’ award programme.

The quiz, which closed on Sept 30, received 2,747 entries comprising 1,033 secondary students and 1,714 primary students, said Penang Health, Welfare, Caring Society and Environment Committee chairman Phee Boon Poh.

He said 100 of those who scored full marks had been selected through a draw of lots to attend the Penang Green Camp and award-giving ceremony for Penang Green Schools on Nov 21 at Teluk Bahang.

He said the students, who comprised 22 secondary students and 78 primary students, would be informed by e-mail.

Phee said those with full marks but were not selected to attend the camp would receive a certificate and souvenir from the state government,

“They will, however, stand a chance to take part in the Green Camp if those who are selected are unable to attend,” he said.

Students had to answer 10 questions in 20 minutes in the online quiz which was held in September.
